Power-Grid Frequency Database

Welcome to the Power-Grid Frequency Database. Here you can find recordings of power-grid frequency from across the globe, as well as interactive visualizations.

This website is the front-end of the data repository Open Access Power-Grid Frequency Database, hosted in the Open Science Framework. The Power-Grid Frequency Database website contains all the relevant information on the content of this database. You can find links to each dataset on the map above or in the database.

This database of power-grid frequency is comprised of open data across three dimensions:

  • TSO Data: Transmission Systems Operator (TSO) recordings made public;
  • Research Projects: Open-data database research projects;
  • Independent Gatherings: Industrial, private, or personal recordings made publicly available.

The data here is always free for use. Each dataset includes licensing information for proper referencing. Data from TSOs and Independent Gatherings is processed using scripts available in scripts, while data from other research projects is directly linked here, unprocessed but accessible in the map and database. If you wish to add your data, contact us or open an issue on the GitHub repository Power-Grid Frequency.

We welcome everyone to contribute to this evolving database to support transparent science. The processed data is hosted on the Open Science Framework. For further datasets or models related to energy systems, check out Open Power Systems Data.

The database and website are registered with re3data.org.
